This may be beyond the abilities of active directory but
I'll ask anyway. I know applications can be published and
auto installed using AD. My question is this. Is it
possible to control licenses using this feature? Example being:
I have an application and have 5 licnses. I have 10 users
that may use this application maybe 2 to 3 times per month.
Can active directory add and remove this application per
published icon according to its usage and limit the number
of uses to 5 at a time to save on license purchases?

Thanks

Scott

Scott,

Off of the top of my head I would say yes and no! How is that for a
political answer?

You would have to set up a Group Policy whereby you publish the application.
Via this method the application is made available and installed if and only
if the user goes into the Control Panel and selects to install it.

Now, is this legal? Do not know. I would suggest that you find a way to
contact the software company and ask. My guess would be that it is not and
that you will need another five licenses. But, then again, you never
know....

HTH,

Cary
