Application installs hang after XP SP2

Has anyone else experienced an issue with the installation of
applications after installing SP2? I am trying to install some
AutoCad applications and the msi installer comes up that says
"Preparing to install" "Please wait while the system installs Autocad"
and the install box disappears and nothing ever comes back showing
the installation is progressing. It's like the installation hangs.
If I uninstall SP2 I am able to install the AutoCad apps without any
issues.

Did you try just turning off the firewall first before installing AutoCAD?

Check with the AutoCad software mftr. to see if there are updates,
patches, workarounds for their software to make it compatible with SP2.
