Application Error

I currently run Windows XP with service pack 2. I use Quickbooks Pro 2004
for my small business and since the past 3 days everytime I try to open QB I
get the following window:

qbw32.exe - Application Error

The instruction at "0x00407634" referenced memory at "0x036d2004". The
memory could not be "read"

Click on OK to terminate the program

I have tried uninstalling the program and reinstalling many times - after I
install again, the program will open 1 time, but if I close it and come back
again later the same message comes up again.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions

Thanks!!

I would check to see if a Data/Configuration file is corrupted. It sounds
that QB processes some file and blows up because it is corrupted.

When you uninstall and then reinstall, you probably tell it to keep your
data files, correct? Have your tried uninstalling everything, or can you?

I would check under your C:\Documents and Settings\[USERNAME]\Application
Data for some folder in support of QB and see if there are any data files.
CHeck by dates.

QBW32.exe is a QuickBooks application ... has nothing to do with Windows XP
or MS ... so sfc /scannow is useless in this case.

Also it is not a bad memory issue ... since the error message is internal to
qbw32.exe and points to a memory error involving data ... e.g., a bad
application pointer to memory internally.

Run this and get your XP CD handy you may need to insert it in.
Open Ron >> Type: sfc /scannow click [OK] and wait for it to finish.
Another you may have a bad memory on your system try to reset the Memory,
but please be aware of the ESd (Elctro Static Discharge).
HTH.
Please let us know.
