I have a Win XP Pro machine (late model) 256MB P4 w/updates functioning very
well with one exception.

Everytime a user logs in the program Paint Shop Pro 9 starts installing.
Presumably someone had this setup to install automatically or botched an
earlier installation.

I can't find any instance of this executable in startup or msconfig.

I believe that there must be a registry entry that is starting this
installation each time some logs in. Canceling the install doesn't work. It
keeps looping back to the executable.

How do I stop this loop that happens everytime a login occurs on this machine?

Run the Windows Installer Clean up Utility

Stephen, you can try going to Start>Run type: regedit click Ok and
navigate to
HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run, Run
Once, etc. Look in all the Run Folders
also do the same at
Hkey_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run

I've checked this location and there are no references to the program. Also,
I have run the windows installer repair tool with no success. I hope I
haven't left ou any important clues.

To restate the problem. This program begins installation immediately
following login of any user on the machine. It will only cancel after 5, 6 or
even more cancels.

thanks for the replies
