Appleshare folder and server2k3

M

Mike Wallace

I setup the file services for Mac and when I try to connect a workstation I
get a message that the User Authentication Method required couldn't be
found. It says to check the AppleShare folder in the extensions folder and
try again. I checked the shared volume I created and there was no AppleShare
folder.

I found a KB article (819673) that states there is a bug that UAM folders do
not get created on NTFS drives. It also states there is a hot fix for it but
I can't find a place to get it.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi Mike!

The problem you're describing only applies to servers running with Hungarian
as your default language or you're running the Hungarian version of Windows
2003 server. Is this your setup?

When you installed Mac File Services, your Macs should see a single item on
the server called something like "Microsoft UAM". The software is there
along with instructions for what to do with it.

If you don't see this or you have removed the volume, you can download the
UAM from here

Hope this helps! bill
