I like the silver bar appearance of XP Pro but it isn't available on Home.
Is there a file I could get from someone that would allow me to use the
silver selection?

Yes it is, I run it on mime (right click on desktop and select Properties >
Appearance > Color Schemes (blue default - olive green - silver)
