Appearance of multiple icons labeled "Desktop" in tree view of Windows Explorer

For literally years now, I have experienced an odd bug when copying
things through the explorer interface. When I copied something from
one folder to another (by dragging from the folder view in the right
pane to a folder located on the desktop displayed in the folder tree in
the "Folders" pane) a sudden refresh occursa and I am stuck with
anywhere from 5-10 icons labelled "desktop" at the top of the folder
tree. The icons are not conistent, ranging from the "My Computer" icon
to "Recycle Bin", etc. It doesn't seem to "break" anything and
multiple reinstalls over the years have failed to resolve the issue. I
have encountered it since maybe SP1 (currently running SP2). I cannot
find any hidden "desktop.ini" files that might contribute to this
nehavior. Any ideas?

Ion,

This happens if you've enabled the "Desktop" toolbar in the Taskbar. AFAIK,
no resolution available as of yet. See if disabling the Desktop toolbar
helps.

OK. That's probably it. The Destop toolbar is just too convenient to
take off. Still, glad to know the reason. :)
