Does any one know what this file means? Must I replace some dll files
?
Hopefully I can isolate the problem so I can fix it.

I have a p2 330 MHz, 512 mb SD ram, with a TNT2 64 pro card, DirectX9
c and I got the latest NVIDIA drivers installed. Further more I update
my SB PCI 128 drivers to the latest build.
I also update the game to the latest version

Hi Govert,

If that's the DirectX 7 - Windows 95/98 version, then...

Try installing and playing that using 95/98 Compatibility mode.

To install a program using Windows XP's Compatibility Mode, hold
down SHIFT as you insert the game CD, use My Computer to browse
to the setup program, and then skip down to step 1 in the list below:

To run an installed program using Windows XP's Compatibility Mode,
first right click the program and "Send To..." / Desktop (create shortcut).

1.. Right click on the shortcut to the program.
2.. Click on Properties.
3.. Click on the Compatibility tab.
4.. Click on Run this program in compatibility mode and select one of these:
a.. Windows 95
b.. Windows 98
c.. Windows NT 4
d.. Windows 2000
5.. Under Display settings, check mark the mode that you think that is best:
a.. Run in 256 colors.
b.. Run in 640 X 480 screen resolution.
c.. Disable visual themes.

Click on Apply.Click on Ok.Double click on the program.

Of course, let's not forget to check for any patches or updates for that game.
A good place to find them is: www.avault.com/pcrl/patches_list.asp?letter=a

If you'd like to learn more information about compatibility mode, you can click the
link in the Compatibility tab that reads "Learn more about program compatibility",
or watch this Application Compatibility Power Point Presentation:

I use the compatibility mode. It is set on windows 2000.

I also added after viewing some other topics on Messiah the -i to the
"C:\Program Files\Shiny\Messiah\MessiahD3D.exe" -i

I failed to mention in my original message that I use SciTech GLDirect
to get the most out off directX 9c

I set the rendering optionsin the SciTech GLDirect Configuration to
SciTech GLdirect OpenGL driver for DX9
Further more I use Direct3D hardware acceleration

And last but not least I set the Select display device to, NVIDIA RIVA
TNT2 model 64/model 64 Pro [DX9] [SciTech GLDirect is now configured
for OpenGL API support. Requires DirectX 9 run-time components
installed.].

In the advanced options I got: Use multitexture if available; Enable
CAD Precision; Use application-specific Settings; always Blit; Enable
mipmapping; Multithreaded Operations, markt

The last settings in the advanced tab are: use Direct3D hardware TnL
and Enabled Multisampling off

I got all the latest drivers and game patches installed

I hope this helps

Hi Govert,

I never used SciTech GLDirect when I had a TNT years
ago, however I would suggest testing the game without using
it in case it's causing the problem you're experiencing now.

Since you're using 2000 Compatibility mode, have you also
tried Windows 95 or Windows 98 Compatibility mode lately?

Yep I tried the windows 98 compatibility mode but without a good
result. [I conducted these test with the default open gl drivers] when
surfing the net I found this
................................................................................

Question: I get problems in Messiah, especially when enabling T&L. How
can I fix them?
Answer: Install the latest patch and run Messiah with the -p command
line switch.

If you want to use T&L support, currently you must set 'Character
Texture Resolution (AGP)' to 'Medium'.

................................................................................

So I taught what the heck let try this -p setting [even when I have a
tnt2 card] and put agp on medium [was low]. For other people the -i
setting means no intro movies

The best result till now is when put disk 1 in the cd rom drive

Second make a copy of disk 2[music], I used alcohol 120%. Disc 2 has
no copy protection by the way. After finishing the copying part load
this in your virtual cd/dvd drive created by alcohol 120%

Third I used SciTech GLDirect use the default settings but adjust the
SET RENDERING OPTION to the directX version you have in installed.

Fourth I also added on my messiah desktop icon [right click -
properties - target "C:\Program files\Shiny\Messiah\MessiahD3D.exe" -p
-i. The -i -p part

It is a shame the www.messiah.com is gone [troubleshooting guide]

Hi Govert,

Over at NT Compatible they say it..
"Works, but requires specific settings.
First update to the .2 patch, and then
add +! to the commandline: 'MessiahD3D.exe +!'.
Then set the app for 'Windows 2000' compatibility, and it should run.

Turning off 'Pre-load cached files' in the game settings may prevent
many sudden crashes to desktop. "

Yep I tried the windows 98 compatibility mode but without a good
result. [I conducted these test with the default open gl drivers] when
surfing the net I found this
...............................................................................

Question: I get problems in Messiah, especially when enabling T&L. How
can I fix them?
Answer: Install the latest patch and run Messiah with the -p command
line switch.

If you want to use T&L support, currently you must set 'Character
Texture Resolution (AGP)' to 'Medium'.

...............................................................................

GovertGroenier

Ok this was the last thing I tried and will try
I removed SciTech GLDirectT, and deinstalled my NVIDIA drivers
rebooted in save mode and cleaned the last remaining of NVIDIA drivers
out with drive cleanser. Then I rebooted and installed the last NVIDIA
drivers.

I checked with Realtech VR if opengl was working properly and it
was:)
I reinstalled messiah, updated the game with the messiah patch

Linked the messiahd3d.exe to the desktop and selected windows 2000
compatibility mode

At first I thought my god I have done it but after a while the game
crashed again back to the desktop

I think the game is to buggy for windows xp :-(

Thanks for the tips Jimmy S.
