app problems they just disappear

pc boots up fine runs for a few then a quick pop up and all the apps are gone
you can click on ie or my computer get the hour glass but nothing happen even
the start is missing from the green box?
 
Would definetly advise you to do a full scan with an upto date anti virus
scan and the same for spyware. Have you had any error messages as this points
to a corruption of the icon cache and or the registry
