Aopen case modifying (fascia cutting)?

Nope, not for cooling and adding fans purposes, but the advertised
dimensions given for my new HQ08 tower case do not take into account the
fascia, which protrudes 2cm above the case itself. I therefore can't fit it
into the desired space (a heady mix of doh and grrrr!). I'd like to slice
off the top of the fascia, but have reservations on cutting plastic of this
kind, as it often fractures.

So, has anyone cut into one of these fascias and had that problem, is there
a way to ensure it doesn't happen?

Advice is most welcome :)

Seems a shame to do, but if it were me I'd remove all the components
from the PC, take a dremel and a cutting wheel and remove the excess
plastic slow and careful, and then use some of the sandable 2-part
hardenning putty from the hardware store to patch the gap at the top
then sand and smooth out.

Thanks both for the advice. Had no idea what a "dremel" was, am now
enlightened... ;-)
I'm still deliberating about this mod, will be a shame to mess it up, but
can't see a feasible alternative.

is this going into one of those 'computer' desks cabinets (where there is a opening in the lwr side just big enough for the box)? If
so I wouldn't put it in there anyway, as the ventilation is quite poor.
In this case I would cut the desk before I cut the box.

So would I, but no, it's to fit under a desk, but not a cabinet, there's no
enclosure as such, so ventilation isn't an issue.
