I'm afraid the only for sure way to rid your computer of AOHell is to
reformat and would take a lot less of your time than fighting with
getting everything AOL off your machine.

Open a command prompt,"run as administrator" then open REGEDIT, it will take
"awhile" but this will do the job.
Suggest you backup the registry first :-)

You try a System Restore to a Point before you installed AOL ??

I assume you downloaded and installed the AOL 9.0 VR (Vista Ready) version.
I am running that one with Vista and no problems at all.

Good Luck

AOL is the single worst piece of malware every invented by mankind. Why
anyone would subject any computer to the indignity of AOL is beyond me.

Best advice you'll get this year: DITCH AOL.

There are still people who like AOL? Wow, you learn something new every day.

There are people who use their local phone or cable company for broadband
access and pay AOL extra to really screw up their Internet.

AOL tried to enter the Spanish market with a weird computer that they
tried to sell through the banks. It flopped. A company called Quiero
tried to do a webTV type thing here and it also flopped.

I remember when AOL was going to sue Microsoft for their dominance in the
browser wars when AOL owned Netscape yet even AOL used IE in their custom
web interface instead of Netscape.

Other than the one marketing guy who came up with the idea to insert the AOL
CD in every magazine published for several years, I don't think they ever
had anyone too bright.

I once installed it on my computer and paid about 15 bucks a month and
used my own ISP. The only way I could get rid of it was to reformat and
it was a horrible program, very mouse based and I'm a keyboard kinda guy
:-) In addition, as long as you're subscribed, it controls your
computer. The instant my subscription was up, control was restored. I
never did figure out how they did that.

There are a couple of things AOL is useful for.
Those that decide to leave AOL can now keep
their email addresses. All of the AOL content is
free. And, you can get an AIM email address that
has 2GB of storage. Plus, unlike Hotmail, you can
access that email via IMAP in any email client- for free.
You never have to use the web interface.

I use AIM email for one purpose- I have a copy of
my emails sent to AIM from my main email account.
A just in case. If I am unable to access my main account,
hopefully a copy will be at AIM.

I've never used them as an ISP.

I don't need 2GB of storage in an email account. Though Hotmail has
announced a couple times they were going to add that feature to compete with
Google and AOL, they've always reneged in the end and I think I still am
limited to 250 MB - which I have never come anywhere close to.

I access a msn.com and a hotmail.com email address using Microsoft Outlook
every day. And I can take those emails wherever I go, too.

Dale

Even though you don't need it, if you switch to
Windows Live Mail, you do get 2GB storage.

The only thing I ever use my hotmail address for
is as a "throw away". I only use AIM as a backup
place to store emails. I much prefer GMAIL (free POP) than
either Hotmail or AIM. Depending on who the person/business
is, I have three main email addresses. My dslr.net
email, my gmail, and my ISP address. Only family or close
friends get my ISP address. I use an alias for my dslr.net
here in this group.

Take care,

Michael

I HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH ERROR: 66-DCVS, CAN ANYONE HELP ME STOP IT?
IT CAUSES THE COMPUTER TO STOP AND NOT LET ME DO ANY THING, I HAVE TO SHUT
DOWN THE AOL TO STOP IT. HELP HELP.

9.0 VR on my new Vista machine has a definite conflict.
In my case many o9f the AOL software fonts, and all fonts in incoming mail
and on buddies" list, are rendered at abpot 5 font sizes smaller than the
sender used.
AOL hasn't helped -- and in fact shut me off of their help.
Their best suggestion was to set my 21" flat pancel LCD screen
to a resolution of 640x480!!!!!! HOw's that for help!
