Here is my set up:
DSL
Netgear Router MR814v2
2 laptops running XP
AOL is the ISP. I have set up the router properly because each
machine can browse the internet, ping alphanumeric sites, etc.
Here is the problem. On one of my machines, I want to access my
company's VPN. When I initiate the VPN connection, my company's
server authenticates me, and I have a good connection. I can open
Outlook 2003 and ping internal addresses. However, when ever I try to
SEND and email with Outlook 2003, Outlook hangs. Additionally,
whenever I try to open a project with Visual Studio .NET, VS .NET
hangs.
After this occurred, I brought my laptop to another's home where the
ISP was NOT AOL. When I initiated my VPN connection, everything
worked great including Outlook and VS .NET.
I am looking for possible solutions to this. If possible I'd like to
avoid calling AOL directly because I tend to find their technical
staff lacks competence. Additionally, if you choose to post and
suggest possible configuration changes, thanks. Please don't suggest
that I dump AOL - that solution is NOT an option.
Thanks,
Adam
