has anybody encountered problems trying to connect to
broadband with ntl.i believe the modem is not xp
compatible, but not sure if this is the reason i cant

Punctuation and Capitalization are extremely helpful in enhancing the
readability of any written document.

While I didn't share your exact problem, I did have some problems connecting to
AOL Broadband. I found their techs to be very helpful (at least in this
instance). My problem was a router incompatability, which they recognized
quickly and got me a list of supported routers, thus solving my problems. Have
you checked with AOL Phone Support? Sometimes it takes a couple of calls before
you get one of the more experienced people.
