AOL and Outlook 2003 - Can send to some addresses

L

Liz

I can get my AOL e-mail fine via Outlook 2003 (Windows
XP). I can also send e-mail to some addresses with no
problem. I am having problems, however, with other
addresses. These other addresses are ones that I
routinely use and have no problem with when I use AOL
directly.

The e-mails with the problematic addresses get stuck in
the "outbox". When Outlook tries to send, I get
an "Enter Network Password" pop-up. It has the server
smtp.aol.com as the server. It has my user-name and
password already filled in. When hit "OK", the enter
password window keeps popping up. I can never send the
message.

I've triple checked my Outlook configuration. My
Outgoing server (SMTP) is set to 587 and my incoming
server (IMAP) is set to 143. For "Outgoig server", I
set "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication"
and "Use same settings as my incoming mail server".

Why does it keep asking me for the network password only
for some e-mail addresses? Why does it never send the
messages to the problematic e-mail addresses even when re-
enter my user name and password? Help!

By the way, I'm starting to see the "Enter Network
Password" pop-up even when I don't have anything in my
outbox. It just keeps popping up, even after I've re-
entered my login and password. Maybe I have two
problems...
