After installing aol 9.0, the program crashed after 45
mins and my desktop turned grey (icons disappeared), and
there were lines of html code in white lettering. Now,
everytime I reboot, it happens after a few minutes. Has
anyone ever this? Thx. Joan

That's what you get with AOHell........

AOL is the single worst piece of software you could ever install on a
computer. Ditch AOL, and go with a real ISP. AOL makes many involuntary
and proprietary changes to you OS, the browser, and the registry. Most of
these changes are undesirable.

AOL is NOT recommended. Save $12/month and get a standard ISP that
doesnt mess with your windows files and settings.

The OP asked for help not criticism. Check the dictionary to see the difference
and if you're not going to help, please don't even bother to respond.

Frankly, I think that IS the best advice he could provide....only
inprovement could have been to add a couple suggestions for an
ISP...like intergate.com and highstream.net... :)

There were changes made to the AOL client that made it unstable for
many people. Some couldn't connect to the service at all, some
couldn't use online radio, etc. The strange thing was it started
happening to many people using the "gold" version of the software. I
was one of several who beta tested several releases for both versions
8 and 9 and saw no problems until after 9.0 had gone gold. But after
attempts to trace the bug installing both from online downloads as
well as CD, I gave up and decided it had to be a problem they had yet
identified.

To the other posters, it's worth noting that a lot of people choose
AOL for the content, not as a traditional ISP. And that's what AOL
wants -- they make a lot more money when you get your connection from
someone else and pay them $14.95 a month for content. Some think their
radio and other features are worth it. But nonetheless, something
appears to be up with the software development.
