Anyway to log wireless network drops?

B

Bill

Is there any way for me to log when my wireless network
connection drops and reconnects? Or is there something already
logging this in XP? I installed a new router and a new wireless
adapter and I see it's bouncing but I don't see it on another
machine, so I'd like to see when the connection is dropping and
figure out if it is the router or adapter. Obviously if I'm at
the computer I'll see the message, but I want a cumulative log.

Thanks..

Bill,

Get PingPlotter (free) from <http://www.pingplotter.com/>, and set it up pinging
something outside your LAN (I ping my ISPs DNS server). PP will give you a
combination of ping and traceroute, over time, and will show you exactly when
your wireless network drops out. I used it to document exactly when PacHell
screwed my DSL service.

And Bill, posting your email address openly will get you more unwanted email,
than wanted email. Learn to munge your email address properly, to keep yourself

Yes, and what am I looking for? There are hundreds, thousands of entries
there. What should I filter on?

Thanks for the info, although I'd really like to somehow capture the
actual drops/reconnects with text if at all possible.

BTW this email address is so "out there" that posting with it makes
little difference in the spam that I receive. I try not to use my
current ISP address, so at least that one doesn't get any mail.

Error messages? Not informational messages, error messages. Checking when
the connection drops (rather than waiting) would also be a good idea.

Yes, checking when it happens is always a good idea. But if it's my
kid's machine and I want to see if there is a real problem by viewing a
pattern of failures, being there is not an issue.
