RU talking about the other side of the world across the pond? OR the other
side of the world in your world? Is it that time of month already? Haven`t
received anything as of 1948 BST.

Quite like Second Copy on first impression. Its the sort of prog I`d like to
see Piriform get into. They do Ccleaner, Recuva so why not an uncomplicated
Backup prog ;)

I just checked for any updates (here on the east coast of USA) and received
one: update of Malicious Software Removal. That's it. Just that one.

and if yes- how many did you get for vista and xp and how did it go

2 - PowerPoint 2007 and MS Office 2007.

But why is it that when I run the MS updater (Start > Windows Update),
as soon as the downloads have finished and are being installed, the MS
update notice shield shows up in the sys tray asking me if I want to
download the latest - and then install them? It's happened two MS
updates in a row.

Hello `ol Buddy,

How RU?

Not so old I hear you say. I`m old Engel but still taking some useful air in
this world. Yes. Plun. I miss him too. wonder where he is now? Used to love
his infestation comments. I think Bill S used to like him too cos he would
always respond to his posts. If you are looking in here .. come back Plun!
Come to think of it. Where is Bill? Its slow on here these day so maybe he
doesn`t feel the need to waste time with idle banter. It`s high time for a
catastrophic failure of WD to busy this NG again I think ;)

Take care buddy

Hello Gene,

Do your scan manually, find out what you need or configure WU to notify but
not download and manually download the updates and install

HOW TO: Configure and Use Automatic Updates in Windows XP

-=-

WU is configured to notify only, which is why only the shield shows
saying there are updates to be downloaded. My question is about the odd
timing, which pushes the notion of coincidence to the edge.

I was thinking of Plun sometime in the last few months--I think that I read
that the goat was burned this year... I've just clean installed Windows 7
Release Candidate 64 bit on my main machine, and am still getting things
back to their normal state after. There's a good bit of work involved in
reinstalling all the apps, etc. mail came through just fine, but newsgroups
did not, so far at least. I used the built-in tool to move all the user
profile stuff between the before and after installs, and that worked pretty
darn well, but not perfectly.
