You narrowed it down.

I just included the Google link, because I have no idea what the rest of the
error message says or anything else for that matter.

Sorry it's so cryptic, but that's in the error message.
It is a memory address in hexadecimal notation. That address happens to be
in user space.
It could also be an error number, and it is also in hexadecimal notation.
Without seeing the rest of the error message, that is all that I can tell.

I believe I've found the solution to the DEP error "Generic Host Process for
Win32 Services" referencing 0x00aa96bc on my HP zd8000 notebook. In my case
the wireless-attached HP all-in-one printer, file hpqtra08.exe, was excepted
in Windows Firewall and for now all is well.
Thanks to both of you.

hpqtra08.exe is the HP Digital Imaging Monitor.

The hpqtra08.exe process provides you with a system tray icon that assists
when diagnosing problems with your Hewlett Packard scanner (or other imaging
device). If you do not find it useful, you can disable this process.

Or it's this...
hpqtra08.exe: System Tray access to HP Director. Required if you prefer to
use the all-in-one buttons to manually scan documents or transfer photos
from a camera, for example
