anyone know how to auto-send email alerts prior to an event

lotus notes allows a pop-up note/sound, as well as a standard email
announcing a calendar event? can Outlook do the same, or only launch a sound
at a point prior to the event?

if you want to send a message with the remind you need to use a utility,
otherwise you'll only get the reminder.
