anyone having this same problem

When i turn on my computer it always says configuring updates and tells me to
please wait for about 2-3 minutes. When i go to windows updates and click
check for updates it says windows cant check for updates and gives me the
error code 80073712. Ive looked at my update history and many of them have
failed such as security updates for XML core services 4.0 sp 2 and updates
for windows vista (kb943899). Some of the error codes for these updates are
codes 643. If anyone knows why i cant check for updates or why when they
automatically update many of them fail let me know. Also im not sure if its
related but when i try using windows media center the screen freezes
occasionally and i have to reboot.

The 80073712 error code may be caused by corrupted system files. You should
run the System File Checker tool, and repair any damaged files. You will
most likely need the Windows installation disk for SFC to retrieve the
necessary files.
