Anyone happy with XP SP2?

It's also a question of "Dollars & No Sense". Since most corporate IT
is now outsourced, there is little if any staff for testing & verification.
Amazingly IBM, that great American symbol of Technology had to
admit that it's own software wasn't compatible with SP2 and would
quote "Have to create a modified SP2 for it's own employees". This
is the same outfit that runs IBM Global Services - probably one of
the largest outsourcing IT outfits in the world. Doesn't speak too well
of their operations.

I am happy with XP SP2.

3 troublefree installations on my wireless Compex NetPassage-26G
network: 2 XP Professional (laptop and tower) and 1 XP Home (tower).

Jim

I work in a line where we continually use many different software apps.
Practically all of the software comanies have advised against installing SP2
on systems running their current XP platform software, so none of my
professional acquaintences have installed it. I have not seen any posts to
this newsgroup reporting trouble-free installations. I have not installed it
on my personal computer, either. I was hoping to read some feedback from
the other side of the fence. Are there any success stories from users who
are happy with SP2?

Well you haven't looked very hard. There are tons of posts here about
how the install went fine. And remember the ones who post here are
primarily those with problems. It has been a very good roll out.

Sorry, ignore reply.
I was thinking of the Desktop.

It is the software vendors that have to keep
current with the operating system. It is NOT the manufacturer of the O/S
that must forever, and always, have the operating system remain compatible
with other software.

If it were any other way, we would NEVER advance!

Those manufacturers who are stalling had better finish their bowel movement
and get off the pot!

Your reply, of course, was a reply to some other post.

I mentioned four items (out of a lot to choose from) and your reply
could only barely apply to one of them. No, not even barely... like
if a user had the updated uxtheme install file, for instance, how
would the user get it into XP after installing SP2 and before starting
for the first time? Huh? Huh? Huh?

Have had SP2 installed and running for approx two weeks with no major
problems. This a major OS overhaul so there is a learning process to undergo
as with all such comprehensive changes. Am very happy with it. Clean your
computer first [get rid of add ware and spyware; run Disk Cleanup, Check
Disk, and Defragmentation; run a full Anti-Virus scan, etc] and apply it.
