Greetings,

I have XP Home and 98SE on separate boot partitions and have lots of
problems with 98SE Recycle Bin. I can fix it, found a post in this
newsgroup (delete recycle bin on all extended partitions). But it is
only a temp. fix. Is anyone else having this problem? Do you have a
more permanent solution?

Thanks,
Mark

When installing multiple OS's, I like to use the bios to change the boot
order to specific physical hard drives. I dont like installing to
different partitions as it only complicates matters. I like to keep
different OS's on independent bootable hard drives.

This keeps everything separated and as you asked, is an example of a
permanent solution.

I didn't know that windows could be on 2 separate hard drives. I have
both xp and 98 on the "Master" drive. It's OK to put 98SE on the slave
drive?

I thought it hand something to do with the 2 OS's sharing the extended
drive. Both XP & 98SE are on "Hidden" partitions on the master drive so
they can't see each other (supposedly).

Thanks, Mark

You can't put 98 on a slave drive and expect it to boot without
"tricking" it into thinking it's on the master drive. That's why
Plato said he used his BIOS option to control which drive to boot.
The BIOS option of switching drives or selecting which drive to boot
will work if your BIOS supports it. Otherwise you will have to use a
boot manager.

I do use a boot manager, BootIt Next Generation (BING). Would the boot
manager cause 98 and XP to not play nicely together?

Thanks, Mark

You're using the best boot manager. Likewise here. And the answer
to your question is no.
