Any way to connect a Playstation 2 to my Radeon x850 to play on my 19 crt monitor?

I bought the video card last night and while I love it for games like FEAR,
Half-Life 2, etc, I was really hoping there would be some way to connect my
playstation 2 to it so I could put my Playstation 2 on my (admittedly big)
computer desk. I tried the S video cord out of my PS2 and it doesnt seem to
fit the one on the back of the radeon. My computer is hooked up via DVI (by
the adapter..I dont have an LCD monitor).

I'm just not that good with connecting electronics via different component
inputs, so I apologize if this seems like a rather stupid question. Anyways,
if this is possible, would the quality on my 19' Viewsonic flat screen look
better or worse than on my 24' flatscreen samsung TV?

Reason I want to do this is because my TV is in a rather awkward spot, making
sitting down somewhat uncomfortable.

Any advice would be appreciated.

You need a video card with Video-In (or TV Tuner), e.g. an All-In-Wonder so
you can get the tv output from the PS2 into your PC.

I'd advise if that's what you really want to do though you'd be better off
getting a separate tv-in card rather than one buil into a video card, Saves
a lot of driver update hassles, if for no other reason.

Be advised, your PS2 games will not look any better on your high-res pc
display, They'll only look blockier when the pc takes basically a 400x300
image and stretches it to fill whatever sized window (or full screen) you
decide on. E.g. it'd be about the same as taking a low-res web picture and
using it in 'stretched mode' as a desktop background.

Okay, thanks for the info. I saw the PS2 on an LCD display (26' LG) at bestbuy
with component and it just looked gorgeous. Sad that it cant be that way on a
crt monitor..which means shelling out 700 for a 26 flat panel lcd. A bit
expensive, at 800 bucks.

You wrote in thusly:

Not being familiar with the x850 - does the x850 video card include a
purple breakout adaptor cable?

My AIW 9800 Pro came with this breakout cable that plugs into the back
of the video card via what appears to look like a standard female
S-Video cable connector. However, it's not a standard female connector
as it has more pins than a standard Y/C cable.

The purple cable is attached to the video card and at the other end of
the cable is a purple breakout box with the audio/video inputs. The
female S-Video connection on the video card itself is for the output
video of the card.

Just guessing that the x850 does something similar.

A few ideas...

1. Not familiar with your particular card, but if it has video in...

2. Does your LCD have multiple inputs? Mine has DVI/VGA/S-Video...

3. If you only have one VGA, you can get a VGA switch that allows you to
switch the the monitor between 2 (or more) sources. There are a lot of
them out there. you can also find a variety of adapters/converters that
will allow you to hook your PS2 to just about anything. This is low-tech
but can work well...
