Any Outlook 2K3 GPO experts out there????????

I'm looking to set up a policy that will delete everything in a users inbox
and sent items older than 90 day but also give them the ability to create PST
to keep working items that run over the 90 time frame. I've got the Outlk11
GPO loaded the policy is being pushed out to a test user without any issues.
I'm just a little confused with what takes presidence over what regarding
AutoArchive and Retention policy. Does anyone have such a policy up and
running or have any idea regarding the best way to configure this?

Thanx

Retention policy is dependent on archiving. If you set retention policy, then users won't be able to set their own autoarchive settings. Instead, when autoarchive runs, it will use the settings you specified in the retention policy.

Let me see if I have this right.

Retention is dependent on archiving, so if I enable a retention policy it
will only run when and if the user has configured archiving? I want to
remove the user, that's why I'm doing a GPO. I guess the next question would
be, what are the correct setting in the archiving and retention GPO that
would

1. Delete everything in a users inbox and sent items over 90 days.
2. Enable users to setup and configure PST's that are not effected by #1.

Thanx

I don't understand what removing a user has to do with this.

I want to remove the user from being able or even relaying on them for the
configuration that's why I'm going with a GPO.

"being able or even relaying on them" -- what does that mean?

The group policy editor will show you the available retention settings options. They may not be exactly what you want, but that's what's available.

Sue:

Maybe I'm talking a different language, disregard the user comments and
lets get back to the point. My question is what is the correct configuration
to the the following done.

1. Delete everything in a users inbox and sent items over 90 days.
2. Enable users to setup and configure PST's that are not effected by #1.

If you open up Outlk11.adm you'll see the options are a little confusing,
not straight forward.

Thanx
