Any good cd-burner freeware out there? I am burning CD-R's and keep getting
error message "Not a blank CD" when I try adding a file. Running Roxio Easy
CD creator 6 and the multi-session CD burning doesn't work. I was once able
to write a second session but found out the files written in the first
session no longer show up in the directory. Thanks for help.

What brand is your burner? What brand is your media? What are your
record settings/speed/overburning? Trying different software won't help
if you're using incompatible media or settings ... a hardware/software
issue, yes, but between the disks and the oem flashed memory of the burner.

I've made lots of coasters and have learned to stick with the
recommended CDRs, no matter how good a deal might tempt me :)

It sounds like you are closing the CD - check your settings.

*tons* of good info here -> http://www.cdrfaq.org/

Use Deepburner - it allows you to burn CD's, append sessions etc.
Also, use this page http://www.vbmark.com/ to search for old posts
regarding burners - the same question gets asked in this group every
day.

To see what's on the cd-- try dvdinfopro.com (adware)

You appear to have activated the
"Finalise the Cd" or "Close the Disc" option.
That is why you cannot import any earlier
session as there are no session .
EasyCd Creator woks ok with "Finalise Session" option activated and easily
import the
earlier session.
Freeware DeepBurner, Burn4free or Burnatonce.
I found easy Burn4Free although the
interface is not very attractive but it does the
job.

Thanks to all who replied! The problem was in the Roxio software and has
been patched in the latest software release. One problem remains, however:
I know the first session is still on the CD since it's a CD-R. Yet the
Roxio software refuses to show it in the directory. You figure!
