Any cd is rejected

Hi.
I have a DVD-reader which suddenly starts to reject any cd/dvd that is
inserted.
The reader is reading for a few seconds and the cd is ejected.
I tried with a new IDE cable and cleaned it from dust but it still does not
work.
I have also tried some 10 different cds.
Any ideas? Thanks.

It's broken?

RMA it or pull it open to see what you see.
 
It looks ok inside and the mechanism seems ok.

Should the cddisk be accepted even if the IDE cable is disconnected?
If that is the case then I'll buy a new player...

CD should be accepted regardless of whether IDE cable is connected.
