I switch to avast from symantec, since symantec 10.0 conflicts with vista.

Anybody using other good antivirus software? Maybe can recommend. thanks.

What was wrong with Avast? It might only be free, but it works.

How can one use an anti virus for commercial use?

By installing it on a computer through which you make your living, like the
one I'm using to type this post...

I'm using AVG 7.5 - works on pretty much all versions of Windows, including
32-bit and 64-bit Vista...

For commercial use I recomment Computer Associates and eTrust AV 7.x (not
the consumer EZTrust).

I'm running this right now on a Vista Business test box.
Works great as a managed client. No problems at all.

If your only life is chat rooms, antivirus should be your LAST problem.

Human interaction should be at the top.......

Norton has a vista version of antivirus 2007 that will work with the new
vista home premium, which is what I purchased upon building a new pc.

Kaspersky's AV program is now Vista compatible and works perfectly. I don't
use anything other than that on my computers. Very small footprint even
playing games is unaffected and one of the best, if not the best detection
rates of any AV program. One of the best little known AV software companies
available. They offer a free trial at:

I did an upgrade installation of Vista and downloaded the free upgrade to
the Vista version of Norton AntiVirus 2007. It worked, but was really slow
and made starting up very slow, and it has a reputation for slowing down
systems. I ended up re-doing my installation as a clean install because of
some other slowness issues and took the opportunity to switch to NOD32, for
which the latest version works fine with Vista.
