ANTIVIRUS PROBLEMS

My antivirus software will open, then immediately close.
I can't use any of it. I uninstalled Norton system works.
then installed norton 2004 antivirus. they both do the
same thing. I'm a new user of XP. Is there a conflict w/
an XP virus detection or do I have a worm?

XP Doesn't have a built in virus scanner to have conflicts with. However, if
you purchased a new computer with XP pre-installed it may be that the
computer supplier included a virus scanner in the package you have.

If Norton AV isn't working then you might want to speak to Symantec as its
their software; if they can't tell you why their software doesn't work then
no one else can.

If you worry that you have a worm or virus already then get a second opinion
from a different virus scanner. You can use a free online one by visiting

Be safe, go here:

Scan online.

And look in your event log for errors when you try to get Norton working..
Post those here or look them up with Google/on Norton's site.
