AntiVir v6 or AVG or other

Im currently using the above program which every now and again while surfing
tells me that a trojan virus is trying to come through. I always click
delete file but when doing a virus scan later it appears that the virus has
actually go onto my computer.

Would I be better off with AVG or another free virus detector?

If your current setup is letting malware get in than I would say it is
time for a change. See my site for programs to help you cleanup and keep
it that way.
