AntiVir Personal Edition 7.0 Final

That built in provision was/is on every (free) version as far as i know
,but last time i tried the free version ,you had to repeat the procedure
you just described after EVERY update. However it was in beta then so
maybe its been changed.

So far I did one update and checked three other times when no new
update was ready. That check box message to deactivate notifications
did not reappear.

I'll post back if it shows up again.

Thanks for the heads-up.

I also had a question about the free nature of version 7. I noticed
that it said the license was good till 5/31/06. Does this mean that
AntiVir 7 (non-Premium) is only free till that date, at which time you
must then buy it? Or will it somehow extend itself for another 5 months
later? This was unclear. Anyone know about this?

I'd be willing to try it again if I can turn off the nag stuff and also
if it would remain free indefinitely.

I wondered about this, too. Found the answer on their help forum-

My biggest complaint with this anti-virus is the "Let's hog the
Internet" right when I log into the internet. (Dialup?) wonder if there
is a way to download the updates once a day instead of right when the
program sees a free I-net connection ready to run..

Although I eventually had to uninstall AntiVir, I remember a check box
among the preferences/options/setup menus for disabling automatic
updates.

There's an autoupdate?

In science, 'fact' can only mean 'confirmed to such a degree that it
would be perverse to withhold provisional assent.' I suppose that apples
might start to rise tomorrow, but the possibility does not merit equal
time in physics classrooms.

Consider yourself lucky then. After install, I renamed avnotify.exe and
then updated. I got no nag, but it restored that file on the first
update and I got it next time. I then renamed it again and it was fine.
I find it ridiculous that they run ads like that. Cheapens the product.
When I see something like that, it makes me want to uninstall it, so I
did. I think AntiVir is a great program, but I refuse to use something
that bombards me with ads like that. There's no excuse for it. If I
want to buy the Premium version, I will. I don't need them shoving ads
in my face for it and bothering me.

My 2 cents anyway.. ;)

I'm still with Ver. 6 and it has the initial logo screen, but that's it, no more
nags and I disable auto updating so it's pretty benign. My only complaint is it is
terribly slow, and I only have 2 partitions in an 8 GB hd.
