antispyware vs Symantec

R

Rick Schein

It seems to have caused a problem in Symantec internet
security. SIS now goes into a 100% CPU loop with the
cycles being shown in taskmgr.exe. Almost have damge
cleaned up but taking more work. A fine way to spend a
saturday night.

It IS a beta.

Then you say "thanks for the report, it'll be fixed in beta 2". Now it looks
like you're hiding behind the beta status, so that AntiSpyware doesn't have
to be stable...

I run WinXP SP2
with NIS 2005
and MSAS.

I have this configuration on several dozen PCs,, all are AD domain PCs..
They all installed great. All were in varying levels of infection.
MSAS picked up several pieces of spyware that Spybot failed to pick out.
All pcs currently run fine with no detectable performance hits.

MSAS also intercepted several MarketScore install attempts with the
real-time protection.

I am struggling to see a downside to MSAS. The only thing I can request is
an Enterprrise version that is GPO controllled.

He can't promise it will be fixed in Beta2.

But, I thank you for the report!
