running it that way your not really protecting yourself.
with real-time protection you have 3 agents
internet agents -9 checkpoints
system agents -25 checkpoints
application agents -25 checkpoints
helping to protect your computer from potential problems
before they have a chance to act
 
Just to add to this--the program shouldn't be a resource hog. I have it
running on old slow machines--PII-400's and some slower, and am not seeing
complaints or issues. So there may be an issue with the individual machine
or installation. Removal and reinstallation may help.
