AntiSpyware has buried my Favorites!

I blocked AntiSpyware from changing my shell folder for My Favorites and
then found that that I cannot access My Favorites from IE.
(The user Owner, has decided to prevent a change to the user's defined shell
folders from Favorites to %USERPROFILE%\Favorites.)

I then went back into AntiSpyware and UNBLOCKED that command, but it didn't
solve the problem.

The Question now is: How can I get IE to find my Favorites folder so that
it opens up when I click on The Favorites button. I also apparently cannot
save any new favorites!

Thanks for any help.

Hi Don,

Its hard to comment as we dont know what it was that caused the alert, Did
it happen just once or just after you installed something or has it happened
a few times?

Try opening MS Antispy then going to Tools on the top bar then 'Real Time
Protection' and open 'View Security Agent Events' or ' View All Blocked
Events' if you decided to block it , does it give information in there of
what tried to add a start up entry?

If you are running SP2, open IE--->Tools--->Manage Add-ons, and uncheck any
BHO's that you don't recºgnize.
You can also use the System Explorers in Microsoft Antispyware to look at
BHO's and block them--it also shows known and unknown fºr BHO's..
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/web/sp2_addonmanager.mspx .

About your Favorites: Other than that, I'm about out of ideas, so good luck
with it. Let us know maybe someone else can conjure up something else to
try. Remenber we are volunters and this NG have smart helpers, but they have
Familys or other jobs, so soon o later, somebody can give you a better
solution.

Good luck

I decided to simply restore my computer to an earlier date, prior to this
problem. It seems to have worked.

Thanks so much for all of your attention to this.

I would think that Microsoft Antispyware ought to be able to undo its own
changes, but apperenetly they havent'y yet figured out how to do that!!

Best,

DON P.
