antispyware fails to run after splashscreen

David W

I reinstalled win xp pro and then the antispyware.
Installed well without apparent problem, but when I try
to run the program the splash screen disappears quickly
and I am unable to access the main menus.
It appears to run in the background as it does detect
spyware; however i cannot bring up the main screen to
view spyware or quarantined items.
Any help would ne appreciated. This has been great
software to date.

I tried reinstalling after uninstall and deletion of
remaining program elements in the "Programs" folder.
Also tried a repair from the Add/Remove
dialogue.....still doesn't function.

Using Mcafee antivirus on winxp with service 2 updates.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have the same problem!, the first days worked ok, but
in the last days began this problem. I tried reinstalling
after uninstall and deletion of
remaining program elements in the "Programs" folder.
Also tried a repair from the Add/Remove
dialogue, DISABLED and ENABLED FIREWALL.....still doesn't
function.
Using:
NORTON INTERNET SECURITY 2005.
Windows XP Pro 2002(SPANISH), SP2, Pentium 4, 2.66 GHz,
512 MB RAM.

Thanks!

I too, await an answer on this issue. Apparently my
computer is scanned at the appropriate scheduled time
since I see the results of the scan, but it does not allow
me to take any action. If I click on anything, the splash
screen shows momentarily and nothing further happens.
Anyone who has a solution to resolve this issue, we'd be
grateful if you could enlighten us. Thank you.

Have you tried both and update reinstall, and, perhaps, the cure for not
seeing System Explorers?

Update reinstall:

start, control panel, add or remove programs, Microsoft Antispyware, Change,
Update.

Missing System Explorers:

We believe we have a workaround which is better than installing the VB6 SP.
Can we have users who experience this problem try the following:

1) Open up a command prompt (start -> run -> cmd)
2) Type in the following "regsvr32 msvbvm60.dll" (without the quotes).
3) Close and re-open Windows AntiSpyware

Please let me know if this is working.
