Antispyware crashed my computer

R

Rebecca

After various problems with the antispyware download, my
computer has now crashed completely. After spending 8
hours trying to fix it (with the help of my sons laptop),
I have now resigned myself to completely re-installing my
pc, but at the cost of losing everything on my computer.
This includes business accounts, holiday details (for a
forthcoming wedding to the usa for 23 people!) and much
more! This needs sorting out as this does not seem to be
an isolated case! Come on Microsoft - we need quality
downloads!!!!!

You can preserve all of the data on your existing hard
drive by buying a second hard drive, (they're pretty
cheap), setting it as master and installing your OS onto
that, redesignating your original drive as slave on the
same IDE bus. It is then relatively straightforward to copy
back all of your documents, data and settings back onto
your new drive.

What was the stop error code? I have not seen a lot of reports of crashing
computers (with over 9,000,000 downloads)- I think one was a hard drive
controller and this one. If you can provide more details, that would be
great.
