Many spyware tools will detect them, for example, Adaware detects
several of the common ones. (I tried several and ran adaware after each
install and itfound them!).

Is that freeware?

The spyware scanner can be downloaded as freeware (most of the other
features are disabled). The download page for the freeware version is
*very* well hidden, and little or no mention is made of it. That's why I
included the link to the freeware download page in my reply.
