Hi:
There are many Anti-Virus programs both local and Internet.

Wonder which 'Anti-Virus' is good for medium to soft Virus
protection, like home-based computer work?

Thanks for your help.

If you are connect to the internet - especiallyby broadband - you are
just as vulnerable to the worst viruses or other malware as anyone.

I tend to stay clear of Symantec/Norton as it seems to cause many
problems with other software. AVG Free from Grisoft is a decent option:

That's a simple question. The answer is AVG Anti Virus. They have a free
version www.free.grisoft.com or they have a pro version which you have to
pay for. I have used AVG for years and have been very satisfied. The other
bonus is you can get a free version. Why pay for it when you can get it
free?
Another good one (again free) is Avast. I don't have the link to Avast at
hand, but a simple google search will get you there.

After using (and paying for) NAV, I switched to AVG last year

No problems,no viruses, no cost. I like it and have recommended it to

similar experiences here, stay away from Symantec/Norton Antivirus, AVG
is free and far more reliable..., Kaspersky is a good choice also...

And do you think you're the only person around here that lives in the
"real-world"?

No, but in actual use, in a environment that regularly sees new and old
viruses inbound, AVG has failed to protect the users for more than a
couple months in duration. Specifically, every couple months I have to
go clean the AVG machines while the Norton/Symantec machines in the same
location require nothing.

Many people are setup such that the never experience a virus, so their
AVG product doesn't ever had to do anything.... Those people would never
know if AVG did any good or not - and they are in the real world, but
they are not testing properly.
