Another shutdown problem

When I try to shut down my computer, it WILL shut down, but it takes forever.
the last time, it took 12 minutes before i gave up and just shut it manually.
It happens expecially when the thing has not been rebooted recently (I
usually hibernate it because it's a media center laptop)

If I just recently rebooted it, it's just fine. That Ahuma thing was
useless. My computer has no legacy software of any kind that I find.

Any ideas??

Avast A/V causes a shutdown problem that is random. Otherwise, your best
bet is to compare the processes that are running under each circumstance and
if you can identify one or several that are only running when you have
shutdown problems, you can close them manually in task manager (one at a
time) until you find the one that causes the problem. At that point you can
identify what it is and then either shut it down before you shutdown, or
eliminate the program if it isn't important to you.
I don't know of a short way to solve the problem (except to just turn it off
manually).

If you experience slow logoff (with Saving your settings for most of the
time while logging off), you are having profile unload problems.

If you see a lot of Userenv/1517, Userenv/1524 or Userenv/1500 errors in the
Event Viewer, download and install the User Profile Hive Cleanup Service.

This decreased my shutdown time a bunch. Takes any where from 10 to 20
seconds to shutdown.

C:\Program Files\UPHClean\uphclean.exe is added.

The User Profile Hive Cleanup service gets added to Services and
uphclean.exe will run all the time. I am one that doesn't like to have any
extra services running, but I am sold on UPHClean.
