It really sucks that Vista breaks software that we got with our cameras for
XP. I tried to use the POS Windows Photo Center software and it wants you to
use "tags" to uniquely identify pictures. That's cool and all, if you want
to do that. But it's a PITA, IMO.
The Canon A700 software allows you to download and save picture files by
date and serial niumber, that way when you combine pics taken on different
dates you can't have a file duplication. With the BS Windows software you
can, if you don't use the tags. Why doesn't it have an option to use the
"date_serial_number" convention?
Here's an example....let's say I'm out taking pics of moose in yellowstone
on 12/25 and I get 5 shots. Then I go out and take 5 pics of bears on 12/26.
If I use the Windows Picture Manager or whatever it's called in Vista, they
end up with the same sequence numbers, 1-5. If I try to combine them in one
folder called "wildlife" later, they have the same file name and I have to
manually change them to get them in one folder.
I tried to load my Canon A700 software (one year old!!!) on the Vista PC,
and it doesn't work like it does on XP. I thought this stuff was supposed to
be backward compatible.....so far, Vista SUCKS! How do I fix this crap?
