I was writing a message which got in to 'out box' (or whatever in English)
Before sending I wanted to add some text to the message so I opened it and
modified my text before actually sending it. But now it seems I have 2
messages in out box???

Messages sitting in the Outbox are not meant to be edited.
They are assumed to be ready for sending out. If you must
edit a message in the Outbox, move it to the Drafts folder first.

I have always thought this was the specific function of the 'outbox'! What
other use does it have? In that case I might aswell send the replies
directly...

BTW OE6 doesn't have this bug.

The Outbox folder in Windows Mail is simply a temporary holding
place for users who do not use the immediate send option. It is
also the place of storage for messages that failed to send.

The usage that you want to ascribe to Outbox is specifically
what the Drafts folder is for.

I have always used the Outbox for final editing and possible
error detection for corrections before committing to sending.
I had placed a message in my Outbox, opened it and added
some text, then sent it back to the Outbox. Now I have two
messages in the Outbox - the old one and the corrected one.
OE6 doesn't have this bug.

edit a message in the Outbox,

1.) Move it to the Drafts folder
2.) Complete the editing
3.) Resend it to the Outbox.

It's just another bug. It's nice of Microsoft to hire apologists to
provide awkward work-arounds for these bugs, but you can continue
to use the Outbox for editing. The two copies in the Outbox are the
old one and the edited one. Delete the oldest one.

When I had XP and OE, I always used the Outbox for last-minute
checking and editing if needed. It saved me plenty of times from
sending embarrassing mistakes.

Good luck.

Rodan.
