Anomaly in IE6

Can anyone tell me what might cause the anomaly?

I have a recently purchased Sony VAIO Desk Top with XP Media Center
installed. When using the Browser Internet Explorer, I am experiencing
several problems (anomalies may be a better word) and am trying to solve
them individually. The first problem encountered is when I visit a site
i.e., www.digitalstickies.com , click on members login, the login sheet
popup does not appear. I then retype the address omitting the "www" and the
log-in sheet popup appears. This happens consistently.

I have disabled Norton Internet Security and disabled Auto Protect
AntiVirus, have no Popup Blockers installed, have set Internet Security to
Low and Privacy to Low. I have also started the computer in Safe Mode with
Networking. None of these actions change the above anomaly.

The problem does not exist with the Browser Netscape 7.0. The login sheet
popup appears with or without the "www" preceding the address.

Thanks for any help,

Rick

Well, that link uses a simple javascript to open a new window.
Looks like javascript is not working for you at all in IE. Are you
sure you haven't disabled active scripting for the Internet
Zone? Also, check whether you've somehow added the
site to the Restricted Sites zone there.
