Annoying Pop-ups

Hello, I was wondering if there is a program available to
get rid of the annoying Microsoft Windows XP pop-ups? You
know the ones that pop up in the taskbar by the clock
telling you that you have unused icons, or the automatic
updates popup, etc. I know this is possible through the
registry, but is there a program that makes it easier?

1. For the unused icons pop up go to start, control panel, display,
desktop, customize desktop and uncheck the "run desktop cleanup wizard
every 60 days". That will remove the pop up.

2. for auto updates right click on my computer, then click properties
then the auto updates tab. If you uncheck the keep my computer up to
date tab then the pop ups will stop, HOWEVER, you need to then check the
windows update site regularly [ start, windows update] to make sure you
patch XP with all the latest patches as they come out.

TweakUI for Windows XP will do this for you. Do a search on Google for
TweakUI XP and click the I'm feeling lucky button. It will take you to the
powertoys site from MS.

DL TweakUI and install. In the taskbar section is a setting to display
balloon tips, un-check it and apply the change.

Hope this helps
