Animation - gif in OL 2007 successfully opened

Just learned about problem with Outlook 2007 not displaying animation. While
this seems to be true, I believe there are solutions. The first problem is
to know that an image is intended to be animated. I don't have an easy
solution for that one. Here are two things you can do to view the animated
image.

(1) You can open the email in Outlook Express. An easy way to handle
opening both in Outlook 2007 and Outlook Express is to use (in 2007)
Tools>>Accounts>>(Choose Account)>>More Settings>>Advainced>>Leave a copy of
message on server. Then choose 1 day. You can now open Express and receive
your mail and see animation in Express for any email less than 1 day old.

(2) In OL 2007, right click the image and choose copy. On the Desktop,
right click and paste. In dialog, choose Yes and save in an appropriate
location. Default name of file should be clip_image001.gif. Once saved go
to that location and right click the file to open it. I find that I need to
use Internet Explorer to open it and observe the animation. Other
applications may work but the ones that I have tried do not show the
animation.

the easiest way is to use the View in Browser option.
1. Open the message.
2. Click the Other Actions button on the Options tab.
3. From the flyout menu, choose View in Browser (its near the bottom)

You can also go to Other Actions, Open in Browser, tho I think your subject
line is rather misleading. You aren't opening an animated gif *in* Outlook
2007.

Thank you and Diane, you are correct. Anyone finding this topic wiill much
appreciate your additions. When I searched here, I did not find this comment
associated with any gif entry. All I found was people stating that
Microsoft intentionally disabled animation in 2007.

I don't mean to mislead. Subject line was intended to get people with a
problem regarding gif or animation to a solution for both viewing the the
animation and saving it as a gif file. When you save from the browser, you
are limited to .bmp but if you use #2 in my original entry, you can save it
as a .gif file.
