Animated GIF's do not work

R

I have reset Advanced internet options, and web settings
to default and reboot. I also scanned for corrupted
files. I did once get the animated GIF's to work
briefly, but after I disabled animations in the advanced
settings, nothing seems to fix the problem.

I have the identical problem. Animated gifs are not animated in IE6. My OS
is Windows XP SP1, Home Edition. (Gateway 500X, 3.06 GHz, 1 GB RAM, 120 GB
HDD) I, too, have checked my Internet Options settings to make sure that
animations are enabled.

I've emptied my cache, disposed of cookies, etc. I use Zone Alarm as my
firewall, so followed the instructions provided at the link you supplied. I
found that Zone Alarm's Privacy settings were already set to allow
animations.

Also followed the instructions to display a gif in Windows Explorer then
click on it, etc. I did this, but IE did not open to animate the gif.
However, "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer" did open, and it animated the gif.
Should IE have opened instead? Didn't know if I should download and install
fixpix.vbs at Doug Knox's site, as mentioned in the article, because I
wasn't certain if it was what I should do next.

Yesterday, as an experiment, I downloaded and installed Mozilla just to see
if I could view animated gifs with it. It worked perfectly. Unfortunately,
that's not the browser I want to use! :-(

Thanks for any suggestions you may have.
