Animated GIF doesn't animate

OS: Windows XP Pro, SP1
Office: Office 2003, SP1.
Problem: When I add an animated GIF as a picture or movie and play the
slide show, the GIF does not animate. I have followed the instructions
for adding an animted GIF in the help. But it doesn't work. Is there a
setting in Powerpoint that turns on GIF animation?

The GIF will animate fine in IE or Windows Media Player. I am not using
Zone Alarm on that computer.

is your GIF set to play only once? For whatever reason, PowerPoint 2003
subtracts 1 from that number. So if you want it to play once, set it to play
twice. Or set it to loop continuously.

This solved the problem. We used Imagemagick to set the number of loop
iterations to 2 and the GIF plays in Powerpoint 2003. Thanks!
