analyzing your document

Hi Folks,
I am having the problem where Word is analyzing some documents when I open
them (or at least I notice it when they are large ones), and I have turned
off all the auto stuff and turned off embedded tags, I don't have any add-ins
in my Word. Has anyone found an answer to this problem yet? I have updated
Office 2003 Small Business on Windows XP Pro updated. I am using the HP bios
locked version on my HP machine if it helps. Thanks!

Ooh, ooh! We finally found the answer to that one...now just let me see if I
can find it somewhere in my files...ah, here it is. A user posted back to
say, "I uninstalled PDF Complete and the problem went away." Another user
reported that removing Adobe Elements solved the problem. If the message you
are getting is "Word is finishing analyzing your document," then one of
these (or some similar add-in) could be the cause.

Suzanne,
Thanks so much for the help. However, this copy of Word has no addins and
PDF Complete is not on the program list. I don't suppose there were any other
options that were discovered to cause this? Thanks though!

I googled for the phrase "Word is finishing analyzing your document." All
the hits I found seem to point to some sort of Adobe or Acrobat or
PDF-generating program.

Are you getting an error message, or just noticing a delay? It might be an
antivirus program scanning each document you open. Usually there will be a
message in the status bar or the like that says it's waiting for a scan to
complete.

If you are getting any messages, post the exact wording here.

Thanks Pop! I actually tried disabling the AV. It had no effect. There is no
error message. It just takes a LONG time. If I try and interfere, it just
stops responding. Thanks!
