Analyse Table creates Lookup tables and bloats the db

I am playing around with an old database in Access 2007, and thought I
would use the Analyse Table function. So I had it to analyse one of my
tool type tables and it made an extra 7 tables, which seemed to become
lookup tables.
I than noticed that the 1.5mb database had grown to 45mb!
Anyway, after reading up about lookup tables etc, it would seem that it
is not a good idea to use them.
So, if this is true, why does Access 2007 create lookup tables during
the Analylse process, or have I got it all wrong?

Thanks

Lookup tables are good, lookup datatype fields are bad ... not the same
thing.

Make a copy of the file, then run Compact & Repair. Access doesn't tidy up
well after itself.

Hi Jeff,
yes that made a difference. Compact and Repair squashed it down from
45mb to just under 2mb, amazing!
mmm, I guess I'll have to read up on lookup datatype and lookup tables then.

Thanks
