How do I change an Application Change to NOT ALLOWED from one that has been
Allowed in Microsoft AntiSpyware. Every time I use msconfig to NOT ALLOW
Messenger by Microsoft Corporation or some other application (usually a
Microsoft Application) to be installed in my startup registry, upon restart
Microsoft AntiSpyware pops up a screen that says:
An Application Change has been Allowed
Microsoft AntiSpyware has allowed the startup program Messenger by Microsoft
Corporation or other application (usually a Microsoft Application) to be
installed in your startup registry.
This happens when Windows XP Home restarts. Windows XP Home restarts each
time a user makes a change using msconfig. There has also been other similar
Application Changes to my startup registry by Microsoft AntiSpyware(usually a
Microsoft Application). Unless this application is needed for Microsoft
AntiSpyware to to run or other applications are needed to make other programs
run I would like to be able to decide for myself which applications are in my
startup registry.

Are you saying that Antispyware is undoing the changes you made with
msconfig? If so, try to go forward to Windows Defender, or
alternatively abandon msconfig and use Spartup Inspector
(http://www.windowsstartup.com/).

Choose if Windows Defender should notify you about:
X Changes made to your computer by software that is allowed to run.

I don't think you understand, I DO NOT want Messenger by Microsoft running in
the background that is why I keep changing it in msconfig. If there is a
reason for it to run, such as to help Norton AntiVirus/Internet Security 2005
or Microsoft AntiSpyware run or for these programs to alert me of a problem
then that is a different story. Otherwise I DO NOT want it running.

Hi Linda,

you can put Messenger to a end, by Add/Remove programs and then go to
Microsoft programs and uncheck by Messenger.

Go to GRC.COM and download "Kill the Messenger."
