[amended] ## Change links - sound files ##

W

Wai

I tried PowerPoint 2000 today.
Links can be changed/edited in this version.

So PowerPoint XP/2002 is somewhat a "step back" in this
issue.

The following is the original question raised about link
edit in PowerPoint XP/2002.

==========================

Product: MS PowerPoint 2002 (English version)

Add a sound/music file by "Insert | Movie and Sound |
Sound from file"
Later on, wish to change the link of that sound/music
file.
(eg from playing XX.wav to YY.wav)

How can I do?
[Please tell me step-by-step if possible, thanks !!]

Thank you very much for your attention and answers.

How? Not the sort of links you're describing.
OLE links, yes.

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello Wai,

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that PowerPoint should
provide better content management tools for finding, exporting, changing,
replacing, optimizing, deleting, etc. linked, embedded and native content
(without have to resort to workarounds VBA or 3rd party add-ins), don't
forget to send your feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please)to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions)

-----Original Message-----

How? Not the sort of links you're describing.
OLE links, yes.

Actually what is OLE link?
How to know a link is OLE or not?

Anyway, the method is:

1. What I insert:
"sound from the file"

2. I try to remove the sound file from a specific location

3. I click on the sound file, the PowerPoint 2000 [NB:
talking about "2000", not 2002] says it can't find the
file and prompt me to locate by myself.

So PowerPoint XP/2002 is somewhat a "step back" in this
issue.
