AMD has introduced its X2 chips to go up against the Pentium-D's. And
in order to sweeten the pot for consumers, it has priced them upto
twice as expensive as the Pentiums. Reverse psychology, you know. :)

From the X2 benchmarks I've seen and the Opty 270 chips I
actually got to play with for a few days, the AMD vs Pent-D
pricing is actually quite reasonable considering how poorly the
Pent-D performs. You get a lot less from the Pent-D and it is
priced accordingly.

And don't forget that if you actually use a Pent-D your power
bill is going to be on the order of $10/month higher than if you
had used an X2 or an Opty 26x or 27x. Double that if you are
going to be using an A/C to remove all that extra heat from the room.

If AMD made em any cheaper they probably couldn't supply the demand
anyway, they still only have one FAB right?
